One of the initiatives we are participating in is the Nurture Biodiversity Award which sees the park focus on a different area of biodiversity each year. At the moment we are championing birds as part of the scheme, while we focused on bumblebees last year, our first year in the scheme. Over the past year, working with Nurture Landscapes, we have added more bird boxes and bird feeding and monitoring stations, and have reviewed the planting on site to ensure there are plentiful berries and grains for birds to feed on.

Our commitment to bees continues following our successful first year in the scheme, where we planted more bee-friendly flowers, created a herb garden and helped improve public awareness of bumblebees via social media. On completion of this year’s objectives we will choose another area, such as butterflies, insects, amphibians or wildflowers.

We value and enjoy our beautiful grounds, and are committed to encouraging wildlife though a variety of ongoing initiatives that will also be of benefit to our community and visitors to the park.
